Out of gas. Out of words.

That describes me tonight.

I'm sure I'll be back, but right now I need to just let shit go. And that's not about DU. Oh no. That's about US politics. This year has been exhausting.

When I am reduced to posting "I mean it literally: Mother Fuckers" things are way off the rails.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210003746

A part of me thinks what we are witnessing is the irreparable fracturing of a once-respected political party. The never trumpers vs the trump humpers. A party that sees its best days as being behind them.

Another part of me is investigating life in Norway. Or Costa Rica. Or Canada.

As I said, I'm sure I'll be back. Just not sure when.

I'm trying to stay active--even waxed my car today before snows and cold weather return tomorrow.

Obsessive cleaning...

but, I am "heartsick", no doubt

worrying about the Republican party getting fractured. Sounds to me like a GOOD thing. I am one who, unlike Republicans, actually supports a 2-party system. So I'm hoping for a Renaissance that will bring their party back to --- oh, the Rockefeller Republicans of old.

But I sure as heck ain't wasting any slee or energy on it.

Take care of yourself. That's the main thing.

I, too, want a robust, respectful two party system. Not the DeathMatch2020 system to which we have devolved. I'm not worrying about their fracturing; I'm opining on what the phenomenon might be.

The most important fact is to never give up. Trump depends on people becoming so exhausted that they stop reading, they stop caring, and they just let it go. Then, that's the real beginning of autocracy.

We can't do that. Our democracy depends on it.

But what we can do and what you are doing is to take a break from it all. Stop thinking about it for awhile. Get your mental rest. And then return, stronger and more resilient.

I'm just about where you are, but not quite. But I'll know when it's time to do what you are doing, and then I'll do it.

Have a restful break. Take all the time you need. Let us know when you're back. And then raise some hell.

I was looking to leave after the election last year (Ireland). I am an only child who has 2 elderly parents who don't want to leave their home. So, I guess I'm here for the foreseeable future. No expectation of things improving any time soon.

Fuck compromise.

Fuck "reaching across the aisle" because the other side only wants to chop our arm off.

I look back at all the overtures Obama made to Republicans when he was in office and it makes me want to vomit.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/obama-hosts-hug-it-out-dinner-for-republican-senators

And I have no confidence that the current group of Democrats have the judgment and temerity to do what needs to be done when Democrats regain power.

I think we need some new, fresh, YOUNG blood who will not be afraid to do what is necessary when we regain power to fix this mess and pass legislation to prevent a disaster like this from ever happening again.
