If Sundays don't count and today is counted as day 1, then the 10 days end on December 30. If tomorrow is counted as Day 1 that means the 10 day period ends January 1. And Congress may soon go into a recess, but it will not be going into adjournment so that doesn't apply.

Forget the "pocket veto" thing. The 115th Congress ends on January 3, 2019.

If Congress hasn't adjourned, any bill not signed and not vetoed becomes law 10 days, not counting Sundays, after it is "transmitted" to the White House. (In this case, "transmission" means they stick the rancid pile of shit in a wheelbarrow and walk it down Constitution Avenue, accompanied by a brigade of the Park Police, a Stryker battalion from the National Guard, an Army Chemical Warfare Battalion and an atheist chaplain.) There are two Sundays in there, so...if the bill is transmitted on December 21, it becomes law without his signature on New Year's Day. If it was transmitted today, Trump needs to veto it quick and have them ram it back through Congress.

I shouldn't regret badgering him for six months to have a plan for losing Medicare, but of course I do. Pretty much as soon as he started to come around, he stroked out before we could even start on a plan. He racked up at least a hundred grand in bills as a poop-throwing zombie before finally passing away. Medicare covered the vast majority of it.

Often, I think about the timing of that event and I wonder if my father decided to die rather than admit that his beloved Republicans were bent on killing him. If he did, then you can multiply this story by a million and that's where we'll be this time next year.
