19. Fuck That Sh*t

I've been depressed all year (and that depression only deepens) over what is happening to our nation under Trump and the Republican regime. But that has absolutely nothing to do with giving up. Nations recover from devastation. Do you think our people are worse off now than the German public was in 1946 - or even the Brits then for that matter?

The midterms are less than a year away. Republicans are mostly getting killed this year in the elections have taken place - when they have won it is only because they started out with over a 25 point advantage. We need 2018 to be a blue tsunami, and to make that happen there is no time left to remain idle. Work spent building that blue wave is therapeutic - much better than sitting around depressed.

If 2018 is a big blue year on the state level we can start undoing the damage caused nationally by Republican gerrymandering. By 2020 the Senate electoral races shift back to strongly supporting Democratic candidates during a year when Trump will face the voters (if he is still in office). By January 2021 we can have strong Democratic control of the entire federal government.

This is no time to give up.
