Surprise, surprise. AT&T "tax cut bonus" is a lie. By Trump and AT&T.

The Truth About AT&T's $1000 Bonus For Workers

AT&T chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson announced on Wednesday that his company would be giving out $1,000 bonuses to some 200,000 employees as a result of the recent tax bill passage — but union officials representing those workers say the situation is far more complicated.

"This is a drop in the bucket compared to what was promised"

AT&T’s latest announcement comes on the heels of a December 14 agreement struck between the company and the Communications Workers of America. The union agreement, if signed by January 12, will afford 21,000 CWA union member employees a 10 percent raise and a $1,000 lump sum, in addition to the special $1,000 bonus announced this week.

However, a CWA spokesperson noted in an email to ThinkProgress that AT&T executives had agreed to the special bonus only after CWA argued that its employees should be given the “$4,000 wage increase promised by the Republican corporate tax cut."

............

How much cash does AT&T have stashed overseas, only now to be used to buy back share, which creates exactly zero jobs but, bonus, does make the rich even richer.

It's almost as if AT&T was just sitting on at least $2 billion, waiting for a chance to look philanthropic, knowing that their underpaid employees would be happy with this pittance and make them less likely to inquire further about why they weren't getting paid more while AT&T was amassing this cash stockpile. How much more is AT&T just sitting on? No matter, the drones in Sector G will be happy with the scraps.

"I'll take a grand with a 10% raise any time, any where..."

Money is often accepted without addressing its inherent reason for existence; doing so often raise concerns that outweigh our greed, hence I can certainly understand your unconditional acceptance of it. Any time. Any where. Unnecessary to even imply 'no questions asked..." Always best not to ask questions.

I won't get thirty pieces, so your uncertainty of that particular is irrelevant.

I've seen the "Huge Bonus" story repeated ad nauseam as proof that the tax bill is manna from heaven.

This dose of reality will serve as a solid rebuttal.

If the tax bill had not passed they still would have received the bonus. The bonus was for ratifying the contract.
