Before that I had Roku - but I'm glad I switched b/c Kodi players have more downloadable apps that aren't on Roku. I purchased mine a year ago and haven't had any problems/issues.

(10,528 posts)many think getting OTA channels VIA antenna is illegal, many geezers keep cable TV because they aren't very tech savy if they aren't totally tech-phobic, sports are probably the only reason I need cable TV and not even all year depending on how well the local teams are performing, the majority of college sports are on cable TV and so are the pro baseball teams

(94,571 posts)I've probably switched ISPs every 4-5 years.
I assume most people will find it easier to just complain.

(26,501 posts)in Chicago where your options are (at least were at the time) AT&Ts glorified dialup called UVerse. Which is what I had, and Comcast. That's it. Thankfully I was able to move to an area offering RCN. But let me guess what you'll say next; "Let them eat fiber optics!".

(25,938 posts)In my locale, it's either Spectrum (TWC) or AT&T - and in one municipality, it's either a homegrown jack-leg outfit or Spectrum. In the major metro area, a guy is trying to establish a toehold in the market with a microwave line-of-sight network, but the cable ISPs are bribing the owners of tall buildings to deny leases for his equipment.

(28,794 posts)which is TWC, or Frontier - which i tried and must be the worst service provider in the history of service.
i had sworn i would never have TWC again, but when i moved to Durham from Raleigh (AT&T there but did not travel), I had no choice after more frustrated hours on the phone and whole weeks without internet than i could stand from Frontier.

Wait... no assumption necessary. Bless your little heart.

(1,588 posts)I called and said I was canceling cable because it was to expensive.
I told the person I was talking to that I would be turning in the equipment at the end of current billing period.
Long story short I cut the cable bill in half.
They need customers.
I was ready to stop cable.
Give it a try.

(5,557 posts)Glad I don't have them anymore.
Gave them up about 15 yrs ago (had Triple Play). They increased my rate without notice one time too many. Good riddance to a bunch of crooks.

(38,312 posts)My wife and I live quite comfortably with a medium speed DSL connection. It handles a single medium resolution Netflix stream without any hassles. Our television plays movies, that's all it does, DVDs I find in thrift stores and Netflix.
Maybe I'm lucky to live in a place where I don't have to deal with phone or cable operators who act like unscrupulous used car salesmen.
I used to have Comcast, back before Comcast knew what the internet was. It occurred to me that I was paying Comcast to deliver garbage to my house. It didn't matter if I blocked the likes of Fox News at my television, a portion of my Comcast cable charges were still funding crooks. I figured Comcast should be paying me $39 a month to put up with their nonsense, not the other way around.

(194 posts)Its for 100K employees. Which totals $100M. Sounds good right? Well its only 4% of its net income last year.
So they are raising rates while giving a pittance to their employees. Making a big deal about the bonus too - and linking it to the tax scam. Total BS. But some will buy into it.

(34,661 posts)last Sunday did a blast e-mail to all subscribers in our area that has two months or less on their 24h month agreements to expect major price increase for Programming,Equipment Leases, and other cost items. Gee,you now see the true reason to cover their asses.

(7,432 posts)... will more than be offset by jumps in the price of health care.
Why dont we hear more about this convergence of economic influence from the MSM? Is it too difficult for us to comprehend a relationship between two connected policies?

(16,887 posts)After the end of net neutrality, the fact that I will be paying higher taxes and now them raising prices....
I can't remember the last time I used the land line...don't watch many shows and no sports....I can use my cell phone as a wifi hot spot and I can use Netflix and amazon prime for movies....
I will save nearly $200 monthly....

(343 posts)You have to hassle with them. They wanted to screw me out of the introduction deal, I complained and got it. Then, they wanted to raise my rate but threw in HBO for 5 bucks more. I took that. When that deal was up, they wanted to hit me for about 50 bucks more a month. I called them and told them I was disconnecting, I would not pay. They gave me the same deal as I had before for a year. It sucks, but if you give them grief they usually cave in. There are stories all over the internet about it.
