Scenario:
1. Trump fires Sessions.
2. Trump appoints a crony AG replacement already confirmed for another position who has no conflict that would require recusal for the Russia investigation.
3. Because of prior Senate confirmation for another position, the crony would not need confirmation for AG position, and would be in place as AG instantly.
4. Due to the new AG's lack of conflicts, the new AG would have no need for recusal, which would mean that Rosenstein would no longer supervise Mueller.
5. New AG would at that point be Mueller's supervisor, and could then fire him.
I know that all of the defenses available that have been mentioned many times here at DU would then come into play, including law suits. But still, Rosenstein would not need to be fired, thereby streamlining the process compared to the scenario in which Rosenstein would be fired. That would obviate the need for Trump to find someone at the Justice Department who would fire Mueller (which would probably take a while).
We need to be ready for this possible scenario!

(2,886 posts)drops a bunch of indictments from the grand jury it would stop
this firing talk or would the indictments just be cancelled/disappeared?
I've been hoping for the same thing in the hope that it would make firing Mueller more difficult.

(1,682 posts)I do agree that unsealing a large number of indictments before a Mueller firing takes place would make it much harder for Trump to orchestrate Mueller's firing.
