Puerto Rico gov organizing Latinos to vote against Republicans in 2018

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello said Thursday he will seek to mobilize Latino voters ahead of the 2018 midterms, citing the GOP's tax overhaul passed this week.

Rosello, a Democrat and member of the island's New Progressive Party, argued on MSNBC that the Republican tax plan hurts Puerto Rico's economy.

Asked which lawmakers he would target ahead of the midterms next year, Rosello told host Katy Tur that "we're going to be working on that."

"Right now, we're going to do an evaluation of all the congressmen and congresswomen that have pledged support towards the people of Puerto Rico, and in the time to take action they have reneged on that word," he said.

I hope they have Civil Rights or Title 8 lawyers handy to make sure they are treated fairly. From anecdotal evidence, they can expect to be "sabotaged" at work because they will be expected to understand every aspect of their jobs with little to no training.

Years ago, when I was taking a night class for a legal subject, the kid next to me in class told me that he worked in a law firm in Orlando. That day at work he had witnessed a young Puerto Rican man get sabotaged and fired. He was shaken by what he saw. The Puerto Rican man brought his wife and infant child over from the island and were still setting roots. He had been in the job a few weeks. In the office, someone at the staff level intentionally switched forms and put the wrong packet together that he needed to complete for whatever it was the law firm did as a business. The man didn't spot the switched forms and was blamed for it, and fired.

The kid told me that it was a shock because everyone in the office knew it was coming and they were in the backrooms, waiting. He said it was heart-wrenching to see the man crying and accepting consolation from team members, who secretly knew what had happened.

THAT is the minority experience in Central Florida. If you're lucky, you stay in one place long enough to see the crude people who are happily taking more than their legal share of your property rights and resources. They work together to destroy everyone else's American dream.

So, great idea, Puerto Ricans who come to Florida to change the political landscape, but come prepared.
