Those bonuses will not be worth much, depending on which tax bracket one falls into.

So this isn't really going to help the middle class very much. Bonuses are taxed different than regular income I think.

However the withholding is much steeper.

At the end of year when you file taxes, it's all settled out giving you (typically) a better refund, since bonus withholding is typically higher than your actual tax rate.
