*this made my day* at a Michael's Arts & Crafts store

Last edited Fri Dec 22, 2017, 03:22 PM - Edit history (1)

My daughter and I went to get dowel rods to build what will become a pyramid - wrapping of her gifts.

We wonder around and end up in the section with letters for whatever you need them for I guess.

At the bottom of an open display something catches my eye.
I start giggling and my daughter says, "What?!?" and then she looks down and sees it too.

In black letters on a pink background someone had arranged them to say

FUCK
TRUMP

Unusual, but sounds kind of neat.

Edited to add: A friend of mine built a small pyramid in her home and meditates in it.

Gonna require a lot of duct tape

I got her a book she wanted and tshirts from her favorite band - 2 of which will arrive on the 28th

I get an idea and go with it. From wrapping a new bike so there was no doubt what it was (I've seen this done since on TV commercials) to using drinking straws to make balls or a swan - inside with a friend about art "It's a swan!!!" Etc.

3' DOWEL rods. I used a piece of a pool noodle to secure the rods at the top. I had much thinner dowels at the bottom so I could get by with styrofoam on the corners. Duct taped it all to be sure. The base was bigger than the book (The Princess Bride coloring book - very detailed) so I used duct tape to create a base so the gifts weren't resting on the wrapping paper alone. Basically a triangle of rods with tape going across them.

Then the wrapping. I wrapped the bottom and two sides - just a really big stretch of wrapping paper- then I put the gifts inside ( two gifts are getting here late ) and finished it up. It was a bear. I couldn't turn the pyramid over at any part of this process. To get the paper taped underneath I put the whole thing on a chair, an ottoman, and a little table. I crawled under it to finish the taping.

Sorry no pics. Much more figurin' than I anticipated.

But I could not understand why you wanted to make a wrapping paper devise in the shape of a pyramid!

Now I get it. You put the stuff inside and make a pyramid around it and wrap that and people think they are getting something different.

I like it!

I'm an avid crafter. I am the person someone like Hobby Lobby should target. I knit (mostly in pink) and make jewelry to sell on Etsy.

I went in there once. I couldn't get past the hymns blaring on the PA system as opposed to the musak that most stores play. Maybe I'll go in there enough to rearrange the letters.

It's funny how things went right past "Dump Trump", which seems an obvious "slogan" straight to Fuck Trump (thinking of the woman who was harassed for having that on a sticker on her truck).

I like to place conservative books in the fiction section. Usually in scifi and fantasy.
