The challenge for the Democrats is to take the "politics" issue away from him and out of the Russia investigation?
But, how can they do that?
In my opinion, the Democrats should make a bold and daring move. They should call for the temporary suspension of the House and Senate investigations of the Russia scandal. This would totally shock and surprise the Republicans and Donald Trump.
However, Democrats should call for the temporary postponement of the House and Senate investigations in order to take out the politics of the investigation. They should declare themselves willing to let the Special Counsel do his job without the political interference from either Party.
This would be a smart PR move for the Democratic Party, in my opinion.
What would be the drawback to such a move by the Democrats?
I think it would put the Republicans on the defensive.
Think outside the box...

Also, if Democrats withdraw from the investigations, they'll become 100% about Hillary Clinton, Obama, and whatever other ridiculous notions that Putin wants the Republicans to make noise about.

(111,097 posts)It is the Republicans that say they want to end the investigation ASAP. To suspend the House and Senate investigation would permit Bob Mueller to continue with his independent investigation. I do not see how the Republicans can counter that offer?
This would also give the Democrats the legitimacy to re-start the investigation if Bob Mueller were to be dismissed by Donald Trump.
If Repubs continued to discuss Hillary, Obama, emails, etc, they would show themselves to be uninterested in letting Mueller find the truth and would appear to be interfering with Mueller's investigation.

But Trump and the Republicans are dependent upon their supporters being confused and partisan with their politics.
If you think about it, the Committees have become almost useless in this investigation anyway. Republicans use them to accuse the Democrats of "playing politics".

(111,097 posts)I think he knew that when he was the FBI Director. Democrats are battling the propaganda of the right more than anything else at the moment. In my opinion, they need to think in a more sophisticated and strategic way. They need to outsmart the Republicans. They need to defeat them at their own game.
This would surprise the Republicans if Democrats called for the suspension of the House and Senate Committees investigations in order to let Mueller do his job. This would focus our attention on defending Mueller, rather than the entire Democratic Party. It would make it much more difficult for Trump and the Republicans.

(70,508 posts)which in turn is part of the criminal syndicate too. I was watching
"The Darkest Hour" (about Winston Churchill early in WW II) and it hit me
that what Trump/Russia did is just as bad a Pearl Harbor and or 9/11 or
the Civil War. We have a Russian agent in the White House, republicans
working to protect, and their own media (Fox) to keep the con going.
Al Franken was a victim of that operation too.

Mueller plowed through officer candidate school at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Army Ranger School, and Army jump school before he was shipped out to Vietnam, according to Time. Commander of a rifle platoon of the 3rd Marine Division, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor, two Navy Commendation Medals, the Purple Heart, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, according to his FBI bio.
His citation for the Bronze Star with Valor, his first decoration earned just weeks after arriving in Vietnam in December 1968 after his platoon came under heavy fire in the Quang Tri Province, lauded Muellers courage, aggressive initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty.
Second Lieutenant Mueller fearlessly moved from one position to another, the citation reads, according to Graff. With complete disregard for his own safety, he then skillfully supervised the evacuation of casualties from the hazardous area and, on one occasion, personally led a fire team across the fire-swept area terrain to recover a mortally wounded Marine who had fallen in a position forward on the friendly lines.
That same devotion to duty would serve Mueller just four months later in April 1969, when, as a second lieutenant, he led his platoon to rescue American troops pinned down under heavy fire from the Vietcong. Despite taking an AK-47 round through the thigh, Mueller held his position until the troops had safely retreated. The firefight earned him a Navy Commendation Medal and his Purple Heart; a month later, he was back on patrol in the jungles of Vietnam (I thought Id at least get to go to a hospital ship, he reportedly quipped of his injuries.)
