A contract dispute that saw AT&T (NYSE: T) workers walk off the job in dozens of states across the country earlier this year, marking what the union called the largest retail strike in U.S. history, has come to a close.

The union says its workers will get a 10.1 percent raise over four years and that $2,500 will shift from commission to base pay for retail workers. Retail workers will be paid an average of $19.20 per hour, the CWA says.
AT&T declined to comment on the figures, citing a respect for the union as its leaders discuss the agreement with members. Wireless workers covered by the contract will vote on it by January 12.
AT&T is the only major wireless carrier that relies on a unionized workforce. Wednesdays agreement marks the 32nd different labor deal for the company since 2015, covering about 165,000 employees. It also means AT&T doesnt currently have any other open contracts.

So i guess this is why working people hate unions...they must hate getting paid more.

(81 posts)Just like Wells Fargo, B of A, Comcast, AT&T, and First Third are doing.
It's bribery at best. It's so infuriating that people can't see through this.

(9,350 posts)The people hate unions likely hate unions because they are lied to about unions and do not know the power of unions. People have been sold this idea that unions workers are lazy and do not have to work hard. They think the workers at the Ford auto plants spend their days sitting in recliners and eating sandwiches. Then they are told that the crappy cars that come out of American auto companies, which cost more than the wonderful cars that come from foreign companies, are that way because the lazy union worker cannot be fired. Then they are told, if unions were ended they would be able to buy cheap good quality American cars.
