People on DU (and regulars on many other websites) are MUCH more attuned to political issues, and to the news in general.
I would say that an extremely high percentage of the US population is not anywhere near as knowledgeable. Many people could not tell you who the Speaker of the House is. Hell, some people do not even know who the vice-President is.
So when Trump gets on TV, and makes statements that he essentially repealed Obamacare, well, how many people will think that Obamacare does not exist anymore? How many people will be fraught with worry because they just lost their job and were depending on their ability to least be able to go on Obamacare? How many sleepless nights were caused by Trump merely opening his mouth and letting some random nonsense puke out?
In general, people at least expect their president to tell some version of the truth. You don't get that with Trump. Instead, you get random words and phrases that he uses to pump up his ego.
Interesting times.

(3,115 posts)The news really needs to step up and call out this dictator, not just gently keep saying, "The president may have misspoken." Sure, there are some in the media who are getting fed up, but if they're only on MSNBC they're not reaching the people who need to know what a horrible liar he is.
Look at the comments section on Yahoo stories about the tax bill, for example. People are praising their holy orange emperor and think they've just won the flippin' lottery. And this asshat has the temerity to say, "Companies are already handing out money to their employees." Bullshit!
