Petition Demands Matt Damon's Removal From Ocean's 8

Matt Damon’s recent controversial comments on Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandal has prompted a petition for his cameo to be removed from Ocean’s 8.

At the time of publication, the online petition had nearly 18,500 signatures calling for his removal.

Citing Damon’s alleged involvement in an attempt to kill a 2004 story about Harvey Weinstein’s history of sexual misconduct, the petition claims the actor’s inclusion in Ocean’s 8 would “trivialize the serious nature” of the allegations.

“Damon’s inclusion would trivialize the serious nature of the charges against sexual abusers like Weinstein — a show massive disrespect for the brave women speaking out,” read the petition.

Truthfully I don't think a petition will amount to anything. If one doesn't like Matt Damon they should boycott any film he appears in.

No trial by jury.
No innocent until proven guilty.

Just petitions and screams from the mountaintops demanding JUSTICE! LOL

This is a fuckin joke.

Yeah, I said it. And I'll say it again, and again. Ask Al Franken what it feels like to be taken down by this so called "movement". #AltRightHitJobs

I mean, is that a controversial statement? Certainly, neither are good. But to get a lynch mob going based on that remark is pathetic.

it was something along those lines, however. He said something like that we need to eradicate all sexual harassment, but that we also need to realize that there is a difference between rape and preying on minors versus somebody having their butt touched. (of course, IMHO, where he then screws it up more is defending Louis CK masturbating in front of women, which I believe is far worse than the already inappropriate butt touching.)

Before long there may be just a handful of people that are either not accused of being inappropriate towards someone or not accused of saying something insensitive about the situation. I'm just tired of people organizing victim trains like it makes them popular to have seen or heard something insensitive or inappropriate. Where I'm from you confront someone for doing something like touching your butt and slap the piss out of them. If it's more than that you call the cops. We save the serious reactions for serious offenses like child molestation and rapes. If someone pulled out his penis and started masturbating in front for me, I would laugh then call the cops on the way out the door. Don't hang around these people then complain years later.

I also doubt anyone would watch the movie and think, "Wow, that cameo certainly trivializes sexual harassment."

I thought the Ghostbusters reboot killed the idea that making a new movie that’s just like an old one everyone liked, but this time let’s have an all-female cast, was a good idea.

It's a kind of sequel/side story with Clooney's character's sister in the leading role. The kind of expansion we get in all other forms of media in varying ways.

It's been ten years since the last one so it'll pretty much stand on its own. The films have done decently and the trilogy as a whole raked in $1.1 billion between 2001 and 2007.

Ghostbusters had its own issues that won't be the same here. Ghostbusters also has a slew of racist and bigoted fans similar to what we're seeing on the Star Wars side. You won't see that at play with the Ocean's franchise.

Star Wars and Ghostbusters - however, it was a loud and very vocal (whiny) minority. And, the tanking of the Star Wars reviews on Rotten Tomatoes was assisted by bots, I believe.

I enjoyed the Ghostbusters remake. And, while the cast was talented, they didn't quite have the same chemistry and magic that Murray, Ramis and Aykroyd had in the original Ghostbusters from having worked together many times in the past.

He's right butt grabbing, rape and child
molestation need to be confronted but they are not the same thing. People are seriously losing their minds.

If he said molesting children is worse than grabbing someone's butt I agree with him.

I've been a victim of both so I know about it.
