but worse!

No safetynet
two classes
1. The elite
2. The poor
The poor probably couldn't afford education, healthcare or much of anything

So Maybe a mixture of North Korea, Somalia and Alabama in one package.

I read lots of Dickens. And Thom Hartmann has a good point.

You say there were only 2 classes, but that was not true. There were 3 and Scrooge was the middle. The lawyers who did devious things in Dickens novels were middle class.

The one thing about Dicken’s Novels was about the middle class or those trying to be middle class would be willing to do against everyone else for the favor of the ruling class.

I think Dickens kicks ass. He understood these bastards.

Except without the concept of noblesse oblige, which was a polite fiction anyway, but at least it made the rich pretend to give a shit about the "less fortunate," or anybody else, for that matter.

They have it all. But after the 2018 elections when WE do take back the House and Senate what they won't like is if they create a Commission led and held by only women to investigate all sexual misconduct against women ,and those abusing their powers to protect themselves with from being held accountable by threatening them, or against false claims from women who go after someone in our government falsely , and hold them accountable to. Many names come to mind to be the head of such a group, but one really sticks out that would do a great job, and that is Sally Yates. Just a thought. She demonstrated not only her courage to stand up to corruption and our national security, but also showed she has the intellect, and capability to be be just and fair, and has a very impressive background.

The rich want to use their power to make everyone love them. Or at least bow down to them as authority (same thing for them love = you do everything I tell you w/o question)

Problem is - it will never work. You can never "win" with this - you just continue to create inequality and evil. And they wonder why they are not respected and "thanked" for ruling.
