Steve Bannon Returns to Morning Radio Show on Sirius

"Steve Bannon, chief architect of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, will return to Sirius XM radio’s Patriot Channel and oversee election coverage on the station for his conservative media company Breitbart News Network.

Bannon, 64, will rejoin “Breitbart News Daily” from 6 a.m to 9 a.m. weekdays as part of an expansion of daily and weekend shows for Sirius starting Tuesday. He will lead the channel’s coverage of upcoming midterm elections and the 2020 presidential race.

That could prove crucial to Republican efforts to maintain their majorities in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Conservative commentators like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh use talk radio to reach millions of listeners, influencing elections across the country. Sirius has 32.2 million subscribers."

Because we all know how important it is to gave a voice to the nazis and racists in this country

So glad I dropped my sirius xm subscription over 10 years ago. At that time they had already been starting to push more extreme rightwing garbage into their programming. I remember reading forums at the time people justifying that by saying NPR and CNN were left wing channels so it was all fair.

It is no surprise to me that the country is being controlled by far right maniacs. They have been pushing this garbage for decades, and essentially control the airwaves.

I am in the San Francisco bay area which has one of the most progressive populations in the whole country, and I cannot think of a radio station that devotes its airtime to an exclusive progressive point of view, but there are sure plenty of right wing streams that get plenty of airtime.

Clear Channel has taken over most of the country's airwaves, and filled most of its programming with right wing talk

When Al Franken's farewell speech on the floor stated that we are losing the war for truth, and perhaps have already lost it, no truer words were spoken.

Unlike the right, we still like the music today. My older conservative friends are disgusted with what music has become, so they go searching the AM band. There's something in the squealing static that hypnotizes them into believing anything.

I think that's partly why Air America failed.

It had nothing to do with people not listening. And, if people on the left don't listen to talk radio, then how Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartman, and Norman Goldman still have shows? Just because we don't listen on the AM band doesn't mean we don't listen at all There are other ways of listening, including Sirius Satellite.

The air waves belong to the right wing, and we have podcast we pay for if we are able.

I loved air America in its day, and I know where to find progressive talk now. It was never easy for a liberal to hear something other than Rush. You had to buy XM like I did in 2005.

I travelled from Indiana to Colorado in a rented van and heard Randi Rhodes in St Louis. That was it in 2006 or 2007. The whole country was rush, beck and such.

He would definitely benefit from a heavy dose of Lysol, both for his mouth and for his mind.

I seem to recall seeing Sirius' director of progressive programming occassionally appearing on MSNBC.

Heck, MSNBC simulcasts on Sirius, as does CNN. BBC and CBC have channels. There's SiriusXMprogress and SiriusXMUrban, LaPolitica, American Latino Radio.

Patriot is literally 1 of over 200 channels.

the right wingers were making years ago

As for the over 200 channels, most of that is music, sports, some howard stern garbage, comedy, etc.
I am talking about what they bill as news and political talk.

Fox News Channel
Fox Business
Fox New Headlines 24/7
SiriusXM patriot
Triumph
Fox News Talk
Ramsey Media Channel
SiriusXMProgress

SiriusXMUrban, LaPolitica, and American Latino Radio, are stations that represent African American and Latino perspectives, not for a particular political view point.

Even if I bought your argument, that right and left perspectives were equally represented, the that fact that they are providing an outlet to a racist and a nazi point of view is outrageous, and not a question of free speech

Same with New York City

In the late 90s, there were four stations that offered progressive shows (WBAI, WWOR, WABC, and WEVD). Today, only WBAI remains and it's fighting to stay on the air as it's a Pacifica station that HQ wants to shut down.

suspect Clear Channel has there fingerprints all over this.

In SF they had KGO which tried to present various points of views, but then Cumulus Media took over, fired almost everyone, and destroyed probably the highest rated station in the city.

This has been going on for some tie throughout the country

This station was outspokenly progressive, unapologetically progressive. It was summer 2001 and the shows were still challenging Shrub as a legitimate president. I tagged the sale as the beginning of the end of progressive talk radio; it was meant to silence the voices, and unfortunately, I was very correct.

Three years later, a little radio station, WLIB hired a couple of WEVD hosts and that was something. Air America soon was on WWRL for a few years. Then WWRL sold its frequency after filing for bankruptcy. The excuse has been that progressive shows don't attack commercial clients. I disagree.
