There is never going to be another Beatles. When Paul or Ringo are the last to leave this planet, it will be a worldwide day of mourning. The Beatles really changed the world in the 8 years.........
To bad John and George couldn't be knighted as well.....as they pass on....
Peace and Love

(7,715 posts)We saw him this year at his Ringo and All-Starr Band concert. It was a fabulous time, and he is an utterly charming entertainer.
Great drummer too. At 77 years old, he was pounding away on the skins.
Well done, Sir Ringo, and Happy Xmas to you!

(5,210 posts)I watched a special on PBS a couple of times just about the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, how incredibly creative it was from start to finish, changing music forever. Fascinating stuff. Whodathunkit?
I wasn't a huge fan in the day, but I have to say they definitely made a huge impact on the entire WORLD.

(10,419 posts)Of course, I have to wonder if this is part of the New Year's Day honors, and will The Queen actually bop him with a sword. She's over 90. What if she accidentally decapitates him? Or is the sword plastic?
Enquiring minds want to know.
Love Ringo and all The Beatles.

(2,503 posts)Should be knighted post humous. If they were alive it's obvious that they already would be. My opinion of course. My Sweet Lord by George is one of my all time favorites and My Guitar Gently Weeps has been covered by everyone from Clapton to Toto to Santana.

...although he would never have accepted it, I have often amused myself with the thought of 'Lord' Lennon of Liverpool.

(9,959 posts)...although I agree with Lennon sending his MBE back to the Queen. I never warmed up to "Sir" Paul and I'll stick with the simple Ringo. My "Sir" is Sidney Poitier in "To Sir, with Love" - and officers, on occasion.

(2,570 posts)Met both Ringo and Paul here in Tucson on different occasions. Paul lived here, and I bumped into him on Fourth Avenue: the beating heart of Tucson's counterculture. Ringo was here on business, and I talked to him in the course of that. Two likable guys.
