Why is everyone obsessed with Donald Trump?

It's like looking at a car wreck every day. They keep dragging casualties out of the wreckage.

Is this unhealthy for our country to be so obsessed about one individual, even the President?

It hurts all the time - when you walk, when you sit down; whatever you do, it's painful, and you're always aware of it because you can't not be aware of it. You are trying to get treatment for it but the treatment is slow and uncomfortable and you're not even sure it will work. So there you are, with a boil on your ass that won't go away and you wish you could think about something else but you can't.

Excellent response! And too true.

The other thing about that boil--you can suffer and hope the damn thing drains on its own. But to reduce the risk of a systemic infection and the chronic pain, the remedy is to lance--cut then clean it out completely. Root and branch, as they say.

Btw, the obsession over Trump is not simply the man. It's the damage he and his courtiers have done and continue doing to the country. There is no place for anyone defying the Rule of Law or diminishing our democratic institutions--a Free Press, the DOJ, The FBI, the State Department, the EPA, our electoral processes, our various intelligence communities, etc., etc., etc.

The Trumpster and his sycophants and enablers, all need excising. Only then, can we as a country go about repairing the damage and actually heal.

Obsession to some; self-preservation to others.

I know - TMI. Happy Holidays anyway!

obsessed by the evil threats from the left (us). And every bit as clueless and dangerous.

Where would the Allies have been if they'd been deluded and distracted into imagining Emperor Hirohito were their big threat, and all they had to to was take HIM out, not even considering his ultraconservative nationalist parliamentarians and generals?

Trump is but a symptom of the rot in our society. Decent GOPers -- assuming there is such a thing -- would have booted him long ago.

I wish it were just him.

Some mental conditions can dominate discussion as they can have a major impact on your day.

It becomes very important to know if such people are calm today or not, how volatile will their reaction be to news, etc.

I suspect most families with a member who had a mental illness will relate
