Take heart.
In the midst of the madness, remember that most of us are sane, rational human beings.
In the midst of obscene greed, remember that most of us are generous and giving, and more than willing to share what we have, whether it be great or small, with others.
In the midst of unprecedented lies and deceit, remember that most of us are truthful and honest.
In the midst of violence and those who encourage it, remember that most of us are peace-loving.
In the midst of divisiveness, remember that most of us seek tolerance and unity.
In the midst of unspeakable crimes being committed by this “pResident”, his family, his friends, and his supporters, remember that justice can and will prevail.
There are more decent people than there are indecent, more people who care about their country than those who would see it destroyed, more people who care about their fellow citizens than those who line their pockets at the expense of the poorest and most vulnerable among us.
This past year has been filled with treachery, greed, and a constant flaunting of the truth and the rule of law. But that year is now over, and a new one is about to begin. The pendulum that swung in favour of the traitors, the liars, the pigs-at-the-trough, and the criminals is about to swing back in the opposite direction.
Let the anger you’ve felt guide you to a renewed sense of purpose. Let the frustration you have lived with be the catalyst that drives you to pursue loftier goals. Let the injustices you have witnessed lead you to redouble your efforts to see that justice is done.
In the meantime, enjoy the company of your family and friends, delight in the spirit of the season, and find joy in the fact that you are not alone in your determination to see wrongs righted, injustices overturned, and lies exposed for what they are.
Happy Holidays to all – here at DU and across the nation. Never forget that there are far more of US than there are of THEM – and the coming year will be the year we prove it.
