All but one of my Christmas gifts, this year, centered around politics. Imagine that.
One of the 4 books I received was Pete Souza's new book with the beautiful photos of Obama and family. I would hate to pay shipping on it, as it weighs a ton but is well worth the bucks to buy it. I'm very proud to have it.
I also received a puzzle of the Democratic presidents, including Obama, from my granddaughter. Apparently, there was an earlier version before Obama's administration, so they plugged him into this new one. She said she laughed out loud when she saw that the Republican version was only $7...less than half the price of the Democratic one. A woman next to her looked to see what she was laughing at and said, "I wouldn't even pay that!"
These were all Democratic members of the family, so we could speak freely about Trump and we did. Lots of laughs but a lot of disgust and concern about the future with him at the helm.

(584 posts)I would love to get Souza's book, but I don't think I've been a good enough kid.

(16,254 posts)I'm going to have to weigh it and see how heavy it is. I'd guess close to 8# or so. It's a 2-hander, for sure.
I haven't really sat down to read/view the photos because everyone else was looking at it and commenting. They said some are funny, some are sad, but all beautifully done.

She acknowledged that, mainly due to my efforts, he will be forced out before then.

I had one for Bush, as well. Actually, I got 2 for Bush and gave one to the cardiac rehab therapist, since he was as angry at what happened during the election as me. We had a good laugh over each day's comments.

(16,254 posts)I will certainly enjoy the Souza book. I have enjoyed the posts on DU of his photos from time to time, but had forgotten he was coming out with a book. I hope he does well with it.
I have never figured out how he could basically be around the POTUS all the time, yet never distracted us from his words or speeches. He had to have been highly trustworthy. I thought it was especially neat that he framed/posted new photos in the halls for people to enjoy. What an interesting job.
