Why do they keep calling "de-regulation" of our health, safety, and environment an "accomplishment"?

deregulation (along with tax cuts) is the Holy Grail for Republicans, the path to Prosperity, to Nirvana. This is the great offering to the Free Market gods.

Doesn't matter that history indicates that the basic economic theory is false, even damaging. For true ideologues, failure is because the theory wasn't applied in the right way or long enough. Sam Brownback still defends what he did in Kansas--basically bankrupting the State. It took the public school system nearly collapsing for his own Republican legislature to go against him.
