Thumb in the Eye Diplomacy
In his wisdom, Donald J. Trump appears to think that diplomacy that involves sticking a finger in the eyes of our allies and adversaries is an excellent way to handle sensitive international relations.
For example, since Jerusalem is disputed territory, Trump will move our embassy in Israel there. That will show the Palestinians. And then, to sprinkle salt on the wound, he'll get Israel to name a train station in that disputed territory after himself. Again, that's sure to calm things down there and promote peaceful coexistence. Thumb in the Eye!
Then, there's the UN. Many nations, both allies and adversaries, thought Trump's Jerusalem idea was less that optimal. So, they voted against US plans to demonstrate their opposition. Donald J. Trump took umbrage from that and is announcing that the USA will withhold hundreds of millions of dollars from the UN. Thumb in the Eye!
We are having difficulties with North Korea just now, as well. That country's leader is certifiably insane and has a penchant for ugly threats and bomb-building. He also has a massive ego that must be fed obeisance as its regular diet. Donald J. Trump's strategy for this dangerous man is to taunt him regularly and threaten to rain "fire and fury" down on North Korea. Thumb in the Eye!
