Trump: News media "basically have to let me win" 2020 election for ratings/profits

More idiocy from Trump's latest interview with the NYT:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/28/us/politics/trump-interview-mueller-russia-china-north-korea.html

Mr. Trump said he believes members of the news media will eventually cover him more favorably because they are profiting from the interest in his presidency and thus will want him re-elected.

“Another reason that I’m going to win another four years is because newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes,” Mr. Trump said, then invoked one of his preferred insults. “Without me, The New York Times will indeed be not the failing New York Times, but the failed New York Times.”

He added: “So they basically have to let me win. And eventually, probably six months before the election, they’ll be loving me because they’re saying, ‘Please, please, don’t lose Donald Trump.’ O.K.”

are becoming increasingly worrisome. He's being more unhinged be the day, out of control, and there does not appear anyone who can speak truth to power, let alone stop this madness.

How he interviewed Hillary, by constantly interrupting her, and not giving her a chance to answer a question, and how he interviewed trump, and they weren't the only media outlet that gave him a free pass

If a heart attack doesn't get him, a stroke from all that stress might. And there's the signs of dementia that he's already showing. If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the outcome that has him not even in the race in 2020, due to death or dementia or other severe physical impairment like a stroke that leaves him a vegetable.

It would be a repeat of 2016 - they normalized him and gave him more coverage than any other candidate. Trump's mob ties, his many immoral and failed business activities, stiffing employees and vendors, hiring undocumented workers, the Howard Stern tapes, the alleged rape of a 13 yr old and his ex-wife, lawsuits, potential conflicts of interests and emoluments clause, Russian interference, etc. was all largely ignored by MSM. There may have been some coverage but it never entered the "noise machine". He should have been taken out in the primaries. It is all still a blur and I'll never understand how we not only got here but to where he was a candidate for one of the two major parties.

I get your point and agree to almost all of it on what happened in 2016

But for Trump (or anyone) to say without me the election wouldn't have any ratings... is nuts

I would bet no matter who runs in 2020 Americans will pay attention more than anytime in a generation

Btw, on side note, imho Trump won't run in 2020 anyway, he'll ether already be gone or pull an LBJ and not run

The only thing both truthful and accurate he’s ever said in his lifetime?

We all know what the Trump vs Clinton coverage was like. The guy who runs CNN even admitted to promoting Trump on he network because Trump was great for ratings.

It’s not Trump that’s crazy: it’s us. We’re the ones tuning into this shit, giving it credibility, not holding people/organizations/companies accountable. It’s the American people who decided (many of them, anyway), that “reality tv” was more fun than actual reality or reason.

We sell Arby’s in high schools and dead football coach Joe Paterno is apparently the most important feature at a public university. Mega church pastors own private jets and get poor people to pay for it, and the poor people do so happily because Jesus might make them rich, too. How many people do you know that leave the TV on literally 24 hours a day? I know a grown man that does so because “he likes the noise” and it’s literally his only lamp — he doesn’t need an actual lamp because reading shit is for nerds.

Trump may very well win in 2020 because of the free news/will undoubtedly get, but it will be our (collective) fault that we, as a nation, have become willfully stupid.

to DT vs. Hillary. It certainly looked like they were promoting him.

The media wants a horserace. They'll do almost anything to get one, even help elect someone like DT.

The media does want him to win, because they want the instability and their ratings are higher than ever with him in office. I agree they would love it and just like in 2016 they will be suppressing negative stories about him so that he will win. It's sad and is more work for us, but he does know how the game is played.
