People think that because Trump is already rich, he doesn't need to be corrupt, but most of his investments rely on large amounts of borrowed money. Because he is well known as a con artist, and has had lots of bankruptcies, it is hard for him to borrow money.
That is the reason he has invited so many Wall Street swamp creatures into his government. Quid pro quo. I give you power, you lend me money.
No matter what happens, there are core Trump supporters who voted for him because they thought Trump would screw everyone but them. When they find out that they are the big losers, they will not blame Trump, because that would be the same as saying they made a mistake with their vote.
I truly hope my friend is wrong about that last part, but this theory clarifies a lot for me.

As long as he works toward destroying our democracy.

not hold Trump responsible for the harm he does to our country, they will find a way to blame Obama, Hillary, the Democratic party etc. If they blamed Trump, they would have to share that blame.

who'd denied ever supporting the Iraq Occupation by 2008.
I don't forget.

(8,923 posts)7. So in poker, if you can't spot the sucker in the first 10 minutes ...
then you're the sucker and you usually do something about it.
After a year, Donnie-2-scoops voters have still not figured out that they are the suckers,
so they keep getting taken advantage of, and they don't mind.
