Former Federal Prosecutor Purchases California's First Legal Cannabis

http://thinkaboutnow.com/2018/01/former-federal-prosecutor-buys-californias-first-legal-cannabis/

A former federal prosecutor turned legal mastermind of the marijuana industry named Henry Wykowski bought the Golden State’s first legal bag of marijuana.

Wykowski paid $20.01 cash for a gram of Neville’s Purple at 6 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the Oakland dispensary Harborside. He didn’t wait in line for hours, either. He’s Harborside’s tax attorney, so the purchase opportunity was a sort of gift from client to counsel for years of effective service.

All you do is tell them what you want it for. Nerve pain? There's a strain for that. Insomnia? Anxiety? Nausea? Want to get a head high or a couch high? Edibles, CBDs, candies, vapes and pens, and more. They have salves for joint pain that are awesome. No matter what, there's a strain or a product for it. It works, this is not pot as we knew it back in the day. My bud tender knows my health better than my Dr and truth be told IMO he cares more than the Dr. If you juice? There a bud for that. Want to make butter and oils for cooking? Covered and my bud tender is full of recipes for that too.

Trust me. A hit is sufficient. Vaping is your friend.

Been legal a few years here in WA and it’s really interesting how nuanced brands are and what you can get. I’m a CBD fan because it’s a great pain med, and there are beaucoup variations on that theme.

They wanted $78 for an eighth.

If that keeps up the black market is going to be as strong as ever.

a) Supply and demand
b) A greedy dispensary with little competition in the area
c) Amazing weed
d) All of the above

Was it the only choice? Were they all so expensive?

Just curious. Thank you.

My wife and I are considering a move from NC to Las Vegas, and legalities are one of the reasons.

There are a ton of dispensaries.

Part of it is demand they have had trouble keeping up since it went legal. I had a med card before and prices were much more reasonable then and specials got it down to a deal.

Since it went fully legal the prices have been going up every where.

Vegas is a great place to live if you can avoid the pitfalls. The weather can be boring. Sunny. Sunny. Sunny. But the convenience here is awesome there is always something to do or you can always get a good meal or even go grocery shopping 24/7

That said a lot of people move here and bury themselves gambling. It is unavoidable. It is in the 7-11.

If that is not an issue the housing market still hasn't gotten too nuts but it is going up fast.

I am hoping the weed situation will return to pre legalized prices. They are certainly ramping up production. We will see.

I have many questions about Vegas. But, they are not yet well-formed.

May I contact you by PM, for insider advice?

I will never go to the strip. Not my thing.

I think with CA going legal, it should improve supply to Vegas.

Thanks!!!

My wife and I were out one weekend taking a stroll downtown. We walked maybe ten blocks total. I counted 13 dispensaries in those ten blocks. The question I had and still have is, How can any dispensary make money when there is so much product? I guess some dispensaries offer special strains and there are enough discerning consumers to make it work. It still boggles my mind how quickly the market became saturated, though.

These days, three to four hits (total) takes you to the same place, and then a few steps further.

Most of the pot I got in the 70's and early 80's was very good.

The first Sinsemilla I smoked was Gainesville Green. Beautiful, fruity buds.

I'd be willing to bet you could smoke an entire ($15-20) ounce back then (70's-80's) and end up with little more than a headache. Although, we did get some Columbian redbud and some Jamaican back when that was pretty potent, most was miserable Mexican.

28.3 grams in an ounce, so an eight would be around 3.5 grams. I would guess that the quality of regulated weed versus the street stuff would be worth the premium if I consumed the stuff.

Co-workers often discuss when/if this will ever come to TX.

Given how quickly Austin caved to the lotto-demand of the late eighties, despite rebutting it with religion, family-values and its alleged affects on school kids, once the state leg saw the income it would being in, they quickly changed their tune.

Convince Austin that rich Texans can get richer off pot sales, and Keep Texas Weird will become a new state motto.

And, as an added side-bonus, legalization tens to piss off the right people who pretend to know about, and then complain about price/quality/God/kids/smoking-in-bars/anything-to-make-them-look-cool.

The Justice Department under Obama put guidelines in place to specifically target sales to minors, across state lines, or related to organized crime. Additionally, the Treasury Department under Obama issued regulations to banks that they could conduct business with the marijuana industry as long as they confirmed that the business owners were complying with state law and turned over data in instances were they thought business were running afoul of the Justice Department's enforcement priorities.

That being said, there's nothing to stop Jeff Sessions or Steve Mnuchin from issuing new guidance to the regulators who work under them on how to prioritize enforcement actions.
