On edit, can he be charged with BOTH treason and conspiracy and/or collusion? People have been charged with more than one crime but which one would stick and he couldn't get pardoned for?

The Trump Taj Mahal casino broke anti-money laundering rules 106 times in its first year and a half of operation in the early 1990s, according to the IRS in a 1998 settlement agreement.
It's a bit of forgotten history that's buried in federal records held by an investigative unit of the Treasury Department, records that congressional committees investigating Trump's ties to Russia have obtained access to, CNN has learned.
The casino repeatedly failed to properly report gamblers who cashed out $10,000 or more in a single day, the government said.
Trump's casino ended up paying the Treasury Department a $477,000 fine in 1998 without admitting any liability under the Bank Secrecy Act.

(11,098 posts)Collusion is not a crime but conspiracy certainly is. It seems clear at this point that someone senior in the campaign conspired with Russia to aid in its attack on the United States' political process.

(34,136 posts)But of the two choices in the OP, money laundering is the crime that can be prosecuted - and almost certainly more easily proven.
I might post fast sometimes, but then I have to go back and edit, either to correct typos or to add sources.

(11,098 posts)Conspiracy with the Russians to subvert the American political process is a political crime and impeachment is a political process. Money laundering is a tawdry mobster crime. Conspiracy with a hostile government while it attacks the United States is the more serious offense - irrespective the of the potential prison sentences.

FTR, conspiracy is the crime, not collusion. Collusion is just sort of the shorthand term for getting together to commit a crime. AFAIK, conspiracy does not even have to result in a crime, it just has to be 2 or more people planning with each other to commit one. Also, again, afaik, you don't have to be in on the conspiracy from the beginning, you can become part of it at any time.
