2. The fact that Republicans are not standing up to Trump speaks volumes

I think that point gets lost sometimes.

3. Neither are Democrats. My representatives have proved with Franken that they can cause a ruckus.

Not hearing much from them over Trump(R), though.

with virtually the entire legislative body, but, seriously, what can they do when they're out of power?.....You refer to Franken, but that was just a case of getting rid of their own...In terms of Trump & other Repubs, what can they do besides blab into microphones?

8. They made loud statements about Franken that couldn't be ignored. They did not

get rid of their own. They blabbed loudly into microphones, and others followed suit and Franken saw that he had no support from his peers and resigned.

I'd really, really love to see a lot more of them blabbing loudly into microphones against Trump(R) a lot more often. For a start.

Then maybe we should get some decent messaging. Right now there's a ten million dollar campaign by the republicans advertising how great their tax scam is. Where is our counter-message? Other than a civilian rich guy who is doing a great job and who people on the left are starting to complain about, what messaging are we doing?

11. Yes and I can see that, like many of us, you're very angry about that

but that said, pressuring one' in your own party is a lot different than being able to do the same with a president from the other party...I,'m always gratified to hear them speak out against Trump and at times, I've thought they were too mild in their criticism. Having said that, I'm not sure how much concrete good that does.

I am in TOTAL agreement with you on the messaging issue...As someone here has mentioned more than once, the Wing Nuts virtually own the Radio Waves...Where are -- or more to the point -- why HAVE they allowed this to happen? They're incredibly bad at messaging, NO question and I can't understand why...As a party, have the brains and education to realize the need, along with the access to all that info and yet they don't do it. It does make one wonder.

12. How much concrete good it does: messaging is very, very important but not concrete.

Think Frank Luntz. He is the reason that republicans have the power they have today, and all he did was messaging.

Trump(R) is president today because, though I think he has the intelligence of a dust ball, he does know how to message. "Crooked Hillary" hit something in people who were unsure or who already hated her. "Little Marco" did the same. There are countless other examples.

Right now we have ONE voice who is doing messaging. He is very effectively attaching the word "impeach" to the word "Trump." He is beginning to get a LOT of grief from our own side.

The republicans' genius with messaging, and the republican elected officials' discipline in spreading that messaging, is what has inched the country ever more to the right for at least one generation now. It's time we get a clue and fight back with our own messaging, and the front line of that has to be our elected officials.

The republicans didn't stop their messaging when we were in power. In fact they made a lot of inroads that led to them winning every branch of the government, all while they were out of power.

I doubt any of those confessional Republicans respects Trump, even though he's just a dumbed-down version of them.
