Putin just wanted something to destabilize the US, someone else had to fill Trump's head with simple enough thoughts that he could endlessly repeat them at his rallies to simulate a "populist" movement. Bannon had spent enough time in the RWNJ trenches to formulate a message that was more than the "I'm not one of the DC GOP" that got him nominated. Kellyanne then went around the media sites to endlessly echo the theme of the day. Add in the Comey kneecapping one week out and the polls were close enough to swing (steal) a few precincts to get the EC.

Will never be sure if it was all preloaded or they pulled it out on-the-fly on election day. Am sure they targeted the final few states, but 70K votes is cutting it pretty thin without dumping ballots in the river.
