(118,774 posts)Alt right. They have realized nazi loving is a bridge too far and not enough americans want to be seen as nazi loving people.

(118,774 posts)never fail to inform. But i too can't take it for long. Too sad. Too frightening. I can't believe they think bullying or debasing others is somehow leadership. Deluded they are.

(2,313 posts)Seriously, an apostrophe to indicate a plural?
Otherwise, I'm humored. Greatly.

(54,436 posts)English does not use an apostrophe to form a plural. Period. There is no school anywhere in the USA or Canada or the UK that taught anyone to do that. That is pure Republicanese, like interchanging to/too/two or lose/loose.
Using made-up versions of the language is pure Dan Quayle/GW Bush/Trump. It makes the user look stupid. Let the Republicans own it, not us.

(37,648 posts)I was going to be an English teacher and aced all exams in college for Advanced Composition and Grammar (incl. the final). But when posting online in a hurry or when I'm tired, I make typos or stupid mistakes, like misspelling fisch.

(31,893 posts)I don't understand how it happened. I've been online since 1999, but it was just a relatively few years ago that this phenomena of apostrophes being used in plural nouns starting showing up. And with astonishing speed it became ubiquitous.
It seems obvious that schools must have given up on teaching any fundamentals of English grammar whatsoever. Equally obvious is the dearth of reading books of any kind among the general population.
I'm 68 years old and attended Catholic schools for most of my elementary school years, where proper grammar was very much inculcated into our developing young minds. My mother was a relentless grammarian who constantly corrected my and my sisters speech and English usage all throughout our childhoods. I myself was an English major in college.
When I see apostrophes being so flagrantly misused, it's the visual equivalent of fingernails on a blackboard. It absolutely ruins whatever I'm reading - I don't care how compelling the thought may be behind the text, if the writer is so ignorant as to use an apostrophe for a plural noun, how can I respect what they have to say?

(19,204 posts)on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Trump gets them on Tuesday, Thursday, and on weekends. Trump has more (but not necessarily better) lawyers. Bannon got the short end of the Tiki Torch.
Trump needs someone to play golf with on weekends, and with his dementia, he needs someone to remind him who he's supposed to hate at any given moment. The Nazis will keep him abreast of the latest Stormfront Hate List.
It looks like Trump is getting to keep Breitbart as well. Bannon is going to be exiled to the floating plastic trash-island in the Pacific Ocean.
