I know Politicus is a bit over the top with their headlines, but in this case, trump tweeting out---possibly illegal--is prime fodder for the RW.

Trump Wants Sen. Dianne Feinstein Charged With A Crime Even Though She Did Nothing Illegal
As his Russia conspiracy theory crashed and burned, Donald Trump suggested that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) did something illegal by releasing the unclassified Senate testimony of a co-founder of Fusion GPS.

Kinda like how Graham and Grassley sent a letter to the DOJ and FBI in an underhanded way, right?

There was absolutely nothing illegal about releasing unclassified testimony. If you have nothing to hide, why are you so upset about this? Now the GOP can't just pick and choose what the public sees to fit their narrative.

It's obvious that Transparency hurts your cause in trying to obstruct justice. The Steele Dossier has been corroborated in many ways, and was not used to initiate the investigation into you and Russia. That's a fact!

Probably Sessions trying to make nice after recusing himself from the Russia investigation when he was supposed to protect Trump, according to the Orange One.
He may learn, however, that saying someone did something illegal may prejudice the case against the defendant, and result in just the opposite effect from what he intended.

(10,844 posts)based on dueling narratives, both equally plausible to the listener, particularly a partisan listener who isn't going to take the time or have the patience or wherewithal to fact check. Or in this case prevented from fact checking and/or seeking corroboration. Which is something the Fusion GPS testimony provides.
So much easier to fabricate in a fact-free zone.
What Feinstein did by releasing the actual transcript was pull a thread from the Republican narrative, and then the whole 'plausible' alternative schtick fell apart. Grassley and Graham were privy to the testimony, so they've been willfully lying to the public, deliberately muddying the waters.
That's why Republicans and Trumpy are so upset; they can no longer paint Michael Steele as some skeevy, 3rd rate intelligence officer deliberately stirring up dirt on the Trumpster. Or that somehow Steele is a genuine suspect worthy of criminal investigation. Their whole storyline breaks down and the Republicans look and sound like pathetic weasels.
Back to the drawing boards! Guess it's time to call Roger Stone or David Bossie. They're both accomplished fiction writers.
