How come we are getting no news reports out of Iraq and Syria??

All we hear about is the great success we are having against ISIS.

The last report that we heard about was a visit to Syria by Vladimir Putin to claim victory against ISIS and the rebels. Who was fighting ISIS - Russia or America?

Trump had no problem showing the bombing of the Syrian airport - where he gave the Russians a heads-up so they could move their planes - and that was months ago. It was later discovered not to have been poison gas on the children.

Is there no media in Iraq or Syria to report on the great successes? I do understand that progress was being made against ISIS before Obama left office but the news was much more transparent then.

I think that's very plausible. Trump doesn't care, he's the grand delegator, less work for RKP5637 Jan 2018 #6

Just like in Afghanistan when they dropped the MOAB. The CiC is going hands off.

Or google: Syria war newsnow

War news and related politics from all over the Middle East (and all over the world, really). Great site. Now that Turkey is shelling Kurds in northern Syria, and is planning (perhaps already begun) a ground invasion, I read newsnow several times a day to keep up with (or try to) the latest news.

Should we depend on the foreign press to give us reports about American troops?

But in reality? if you want to know what's going on in the Middle East you've got to go foreign. You are smart guy -- read with an open but critical mind.

Fwiw -- I have come to the conclusion that anything from Syrian Observqtory for Human Rights is mostly BS, but you may feel differently.

But it is my understanding that Assad is now in fairly firm support of Syria at this time? How stable is his government? Putin announced that he was going to withdraw Russian troops from Syria after their victory there??
