The Senate will pass a DACA bill and revenue for the wall (that fucking wasteful wall) and the bill will go to the House.
That is where the action will take place. The Freedom Caucus will not support the Senate's votes. They will threaten to shut down the government. The shoe will be on the other foot.
The "Gang of 20 or 30" in the Senate will be calling the shots. They will be the leaders in solving this budget crisis.
Democrats will not shut down the government again. It was a one-shot deal. It is very naive to think Democrats had the power to do more than what they did. It was a courageous move to stand up for the "Dreamers". Hopefully they will get a vote on February 8th and Democrats will have passed the CHIP program and the DACA bill.
But then, it goes to the House of Representatives. The one arrow that Democrats have left is the fact that all 435 Representatives are up for re-election and that will be at the forefront of their minds.

(16,094 posts)The Senate will not pass a DACA bill, not before funding other issues, such as the military, the fight against the opioid addiction and to reopen health clinics! McTurtle will use the DACA bill as a carrot to get the Democrats to help pass the other bills!
Once those bills have been passed, McTurtle will have his free and open debate on a DACA bill, after which he will introduce the House version probably on February 5, three days before the new continuing resolution ends!
The Democrats will try to introduce a bipartisan bill, which will not gain the votes to pass, leaving only the House version as an option!
What do the Democrats do?
Just another possible scenario.
