I'm not threatening, or suggesting mind you. Just observing.
Leaders in banana republics tend to be subject to serial assassinations. When the opposition feels it has no power it resorts to drastic measures. That often means either a military takeover or an assassination or both.

We don't want to become a banana republic. We really don't want that. We don't want a military dictatorship. We don't want to live in a country where leaders are routinely assassinated. We want a stable democracy with orderly transition of power. But if Trump keeps pushing somebody should remind him that "strong men" typically leave office feet first in a bag.

Even if republican complete their conversion of America into an autocracy, they’ll keep the hollow institutions and the fiction that we’re a functional democracy.
