When will we take control of the government?

After the House Representatives voted to release a memo that is going undermine our country's safety and well being. It is time for a reversal in power! It's time to say to those who think they're above the law, you're done! It is time to stop foreign power to insert their interference to our every freedom! Questions that need to be asked in the 2018 & 2020 elections! It is just time to say no more!

will work. That is done, gone, flew the coup. With Republican complicity our country has been stolen. There is a dictator in place. The rule of law no longer applies to this Republican administration.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson

What are you prepared to do?

are going to free and fair elections you are sadly mistaken.

Ask Russians how easy it is to vote out the dictatorial authority. Ask Iranians how easy it is to vote out the theocracy. Ask Venezuelans how easy it is to democratically overthrow an authoritarian regime.

I am working very hard to get progressives elected. I make phone calls. I spent every weekend for two months canvassing before the last VA elections. I just don't think elections are going to work anymore. We have been invaded without a shot fired. Still thinking the old norms of the democratic process will be effective is like when Poland used horses against the tank divisions invading from Germany.

not just surrender of this current battle, but a surrender of democracy itself? After only a few shots being fired?

"I just don't think elections are going to work anymore." ???!!!

You can't control "them," and maybe you can't control your reactions. But shouldn't you try to develop the conviction and commitment to not fold prematurely?

Because if elections really didn't work any more, you might as well piss on and bury your progressive ideals.

I am saying the tactics need to change, dramatically. There are still people arguing about how valid it was for Franken to resign. Your saying "just vote."

Republicans don't care about laws, they don't care about people, they don't care about the democratic process. Have you listened to the hatred and propaganda right wing radio and Fox spew? We, that is democrats, are less than human in their eyes. We are 'different, strange and other.' I don't think a reasoned discourse will win the day.

I will continue to play my part as I have been. Unless enough people choose to understand how willing Republicans are to begin a dictatorship the less chance for success Democracy in America has.

That has been very clearly stated.

As far as tactics are concerned. Democrats are always responding to republicans rather than getting out in front of the story. Remember when Howard Dean went 'Yeah!!!!' with a fist pump? Republicans decried that as not being good form. Democrat response was to fire the head of the DNC. Enthusiasm for Democratic success was met with the firing of the person expressing enthusiasm b/c repukes wanted that.

After Tuesday the gov't may shutdown, again. Instead of getting in front of that Dems stating we are waiting to see what Reps do. Get in front of it. Make the Reps defend their racist stance. Every Dem in front of a microphone should be stating "Republicans promised to get a clean DACA vote. We have not seen that. It is our party's stance that ALL civil rights should be protected. We cannot support the Republican deceit of promising voting for something and reneging on that promise."

I am not a wordsmith, obviously. Basically, everytime a Democrat is talking they should say we believe in civil rights for all which republicans want to take away. We believe in fair, open and transparent elections which republicans are trying to stymie, be it by allowing Russian control of elections or disenfranchising eligible voters. Thirdly, we believe in an end to foreign control of our government which republicans seem unwilling to look at openly and honestly. Just hammer those points. Reinforce this with talk of the current leadership of the republican party is untenable. Dems are willing to work with reasonable people but this racism, misogyny, and homophobic iteration of the republican party is unworthy of what America needs right now. No matter what the topic or conversation just keep coming back to these basic three or four points. Anyway, that's what I'd do.
