Tim Allen joins docudrama taking down PC culture

Source: New York Post

WASHINGTON – Actor Tim Allen has joined the cast of new movie aimed at disrupting the liberal and PC culture in Hollywood, on college campuses and in comedy.

Allen’s “Last Man Standing” sitcom was canceled last year and outraged fans believe ABC pulled the plug because the family comedy highlighted conservative values. ABC denied it was over politics.

Allen has signed onto the docudrama “No Safe Spaces” that’s expected to hit theaters in the fall.

Fellow comedian Adam Carolla and conservative radio show host Dennis Prager are making the movie to promote free speech at a time they say the entertainment industry, media and college campuses too often shut down or blackball controversial viewpoints.

And I still find it very fitting he's best known for a show (within a show) called "Tool Time"

One of his famous lines from the show was 'more power' and the tools I assumed he was talking about then were things like saws and drills.

Now, I realized that when he said 'more power' he meant that he wanted right wing white tools like himself (and those in Charlottesville) to have more power.

You can stand on the street corner and say whatever you want - as long as it's not hate speech. If someone tells you they are offended now you have to weigh that in your choice.

2. "But I can't say that now" after saying it

3. Last Man Standing was the #17 ranked TV show on ABC. On its own network it was middle of the pack. It was forced messaging too. Let's stop the flow of the show to let Mr. Big shot offer his opinion.

We're not shutting them down. They only think in their small minds that we are. Under the 1st amendment, they are guaranteed a right to say racist and sexist things. But that doesn't guarantee that anyone will listen to what they have to say.

This is the very definition of a safe space! "Waaaaa!!!! Mean PC liberals won't listen to my racist and sexist views! I need a space to air my racist and sexist views!"

And ABC wasn't making money on the show any longer. It didn't own the show. It owns shows like Agents of SHIELD and Blackish. Those are in-house productions. The production studio (FOX I think) didn't want a discount for the show, so ABC had to let it go.

Oh and if the show was so great, why didn't any other station pick it up??

Sure they still control everything and make more money, but recently they've been told that they have to coexist with people who are unlike themselves and that makes them haz a sad.

He was good at that.

Like Dice, so good that the satire escaped those who used him to promote the very stereotype he was skewering.

I partially watched two episodes. All I saw was white, old, middle-class people sitting in a living-room, talking to each other.

There was no drama beyond "Oh, the kids these days!"

It hit its 6th year and ABC instead of the production studio would have to pick up the costs for the 6th season. ABC basically made a business decision to not pick up those additional production costs. I imagine the biggest cost was Tim's salary. It's typical conservatism: free market when in actual action is bad but they blame liberals for its action. Too bad Tim was entertaining at one time. Now he's becoming a blow hard.

Though, it is interesting what those roles are.

He's excellent as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the "Toy Story" films. And Buzz is obviously a spoof of blowhard, all-American action movie stereotypes. Should also be noted that in the first TS film, Buzz is so deluded by his own supposed greatness he doesn't even realize he is a not a real action hero but a toy.

Allen is also great in "Galaxy Quest," where he plays a self-centered, egotistical, has-been TV star molded after William Shatner (though much less successful than his real-life counterpart).

I guess there is that danger with acting. Losing one's self.

I guess acting is easy if all you have to do is play yourself.
