What could be the strategy about releasing this memo? From nearly every account I've read, it's a piece of fantasy without facts. Further, the Department of Justice-- from Trump's own government!-- doesn't believe it should be released because it will jeopardize intelligence activities and it's not factual.
So why release it? Just to muddy the waters? Ultimately, that won't work because with its release, more facts will become known that will debunk it. Nunes' reputation will be ruined, if it isn't already.
I really don't get it.
Unless it is true that Trump is so delusional that he actually believes his own bullshit is reality:

a simple classic move by despots...and why trump railed against the FBI during the primaries as HE KNEW then...his level of corruptness will sooner or later come out.
we are racing to a constitutional crisis

(22,037 posts)They won't like that and the careerists will fight back, probably undermining Trump from behind the scenes.
Trump has foolishly provoked a potent enemy.

I think the memo will show what nut-jobs Nunes & Co. really are.

(111,098 posts)The base was super-hyped for them to "release the memo". It's about politics. Manipulative politics.

(5,240 posts)The memo claims Rosenstein was involved with the renewal of the FISA warrant against Carter Page. This will be used by 45 to get rid of Rosenstein and set up for the eventual firing of Mueller.

(22,037 posts)Remember, the FBI already had open files on Trump and his cohorts before Trump fired James Comey. When Robert Mueller was appointed, he took over the investigation and its information.
If Mr. Mueller is canned, the DOJ will still have the evidence. Additionally, hasn't Mr. Mueller shared his evidence with NY Attorney General Schneiderman? That investigation is beyond Trump's influence.
Trump is going down. The question I have is, how much damage will he cause?

(3,486 posts)justified. And nothing will be done to get rid of Trump. We're stuck with him for probably another 7 years. Unless he dies somehow between now and then. One can hope.
