So friend tells me they had a small leak in a building at work. They call in the contractor who put on the new roof a few years ago. No overhanging trees. Pretty large flat one story processing building.
#1 likely reason - break in a seal. They look. Nope
#2 bullet hole.
The maintenance guy asks, "Is that an industry term for something?"
Contractor says, "No, we're looking for a bullet hole"
Sure enough they found one. Probably a .22. Hit just hard enough to puncture the top level material and the rubber/plastic membrane below it. Didn't dig down to find the bullet or see any other rounds but it was clearly a bullet hole. Patched up. Good to go.
So, yeah that's pretty much automatically the second thing they look for.
