Trump Blew a Deadline to Impose New Russian Sanctions and Democrats Are Furious

Trump’s lack of follow-through on the sanctions law has angered congressional Democrats, who accuse the president of failing to stand up to Russia over its intervention in the presidential race. “The Trump Administration had a decision to make whether they would follow the law and crack down on those responsible for attacking American democracy in 2016,” Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a statement. “They chose instead to let Russia off the hook yet again. I’m fed up waiting for this Administration to protect our country and our elections.”

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), the ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Mother Jones, “We’ve got to be pretty tough about this. But with the president not imposing any sanctions, that’s hard to understand.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) questioned Trump’s motivation for blowing the sanctions deadline, pointing out that that the Trump administration had this week allowed Sergey Naryshkin, the head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service, who is currently under sanctions, to visit the United States.

“We sanctioned the head of their intelligence and then the Trump administration invites him to waltz through our front door,” Schumer said. “This is an extreme dereliction of duty by President Trump, who seems more intent on undermining the rule of law in this country than standing up to Putin.”

I believe we are at a point where it is reasonable to believe the GOP can no longer be reasoned with.

I can just imagine what the Republican reaction would have been had a Democratic president refused to follow the law and instead welcome in the head of Russia's foreign intelligence service despite the fact that Naryshkin is under sanctions. I wonder where Sergey will be sitting at the SOTU? Maybe Ahmad Chalabi's old seat?

Barely a mention of this.

Most discussion was of the "memo".

They briefly had Schumer on, followed by some GOP gasbag gish galloping, and then a long clip of Trump himself ranting, which I had to turn off to avoid puking.

Perhaps they will go on TV and express their outrage. That way they can put it behind them, and move on with accepting reality.

But by all means, attend the SOTU, so as not to insult the other side or the Fuhrer.

In no uncertain terms, she wants to let Drumpf have his forum to spew all the lies he wants.

They wouldn't want us to think that they believe every single word out of his mouth is a LIE, by calling him out.

If the Dems wanted to make a statement, they would Boycott, and leave the chamber half empty.

I will not be watching, nor do I have any real interest in watching the post-game analysis on tv.

We know that fatso-in-chief is being threatened/blackmailed by putin--they own his sorry, treasonous ass, but now there's absolutely no doubt that most--if not all--of the CON-gress is also being threatened/blackmailed, so they're caping for fatso and protecting their greedy, treasonous asses. Nunes releasing his fake, cherry-picked information memo, and there will be NO ruskie sanctions. And, fatso is going to fire Mueller.

Fatso, per putin, is destroying this country's law enforcement, our courts=our way of LIFE.

The USA is fucked into HELL--pardon my French.

We're on the way to a fascistic oligarchy.

20. Much worse than the "Piss" tape ....
Tue Jan 30, 2018, 07:18 PM
Jan 2018

putin more than likely has fatso's voice on tape offering goodies to him (putin). Has fatso's federal taxes, has information on all of fatso's money laundering and law-breaking etc. We all KNOW that fatso's a sexual predator, probably a rapist, and who knows what the deal is with the relationship with his daughter IS , and people still voted for this hog. A pissing tape? NOPE, people don't care about that because we all know who he IS already in terms of sexual assault, porn star pay outs etc.

We are in the midst of a super-slow-mo Saturday Night Massacre--courtesy of putin, his treasonous puppet fatso and this treasonous, greedy vile CON-gress, and Dems are powerless to stop what they see happening, and because we probably won't be able to vote the bums out in the fall because our votes won't count (voter-suppression, gerrymandering etc.). Those of us who have functioning brains know what's up. Fatso/thuglicans have sold us out for "chicken change" and for their OWN gain. They're helping to do away with this nation's law enforcement capabilities, they're RWNJ'ing the courts with LIFETIME appointments, and this country will slowly turn into what russia IS, and we know it's not pretty at all.

putin has foot on the necks of this CON-gress, fatso-in-chief's big, fat, gelatinous, red neck, and on OUR necks as well.

Russia supposedly loaned Trump a lot of money. Trump's one-time campaign manager has been indicted for money laundering, hasn't he? That involved Russian money. Trump has for 30 years been trying to be able to build a hotel or business in Russia...unsuccessfully. He seems to be fixated on this.

Trump seems to genuinely like Putin (smiles & body language when they meet), so being afraid of him or angry with him doesn't jive with that. It's more like a "deal." They're on the same page. You get what you want...I get what I want. We both win. It's a deal.

is in the control of Democrats and a goodly majority. Trump will likely be gone by March of 2019.

Just as a side note, noticed today the Kick-Off of Trump 2020 in Iowa. BTW.the RNC is counting the Gerrymandered Districts to help them keep control of the House. Notice how Walker in Wisconsin and what ever the Slug in Texas are doing things to keep Democratic Candidates from gaining Ballot access doing their best to prevent people from filing for Office.

SO how are we going to vote them OUT if our votes don't count, are gerrymandered away, go MISSING again but in OTHER states--even in BLUE states, or are voter-suppressed (cross-checked, voter-purged voter ID'd away)? Did I mention ruskie interference only this time with FEELING?
