The market hates uncertainty. One factor is the likely rise in interest rates (inflation) but there's so much chaos on top of that. I don't know how far this sell-off will go, but it will be interesting to see if Dolt 45 tries to blame it on Obama, Clinton, or Bob Mueller (come to think of it, maybe the possible indictments of the entire top echelon of our government might be making investors nervous, too).

I forgot that tidbit.

And that's on top of the deficit ballooning under the government tax rip off passed by them in December.

Though I would not wish a market crash on anyone - including retirees and those of us close, i do understand and appreciate that this hurts trump.

after the election. Usually The Market hates chaos, and tRump is the king of chaos. But I guess they were confident he'd be able to lower taxes and kill some regulatory oversight before the chaos became overwhelming.

Meanwhile, I took profits continually as the market rose (I'm retired and have high ongoing expenses for DH's long term care. I wouldn't have done that if I were young).

This might be enough to make them do the right thing and finally get rid of the AHOTUS (AssHole of the United States). If so I will gladly take a hit to my 401K.

it's bouncing back up now, so not likely they will be tripped.

At the start of each day, the NYSE sets three circuit breaker levels at levels of 7% (Level 1), 13% (Level 2) and 20% (Level 3). These thresholds are the percentage drops in value that the S&P 500 Index would have to suffer in order for a trading halt to occur. Depending on the point drop that happens and the time of day when it happens, different actions occur automatically: Level 1 and Level 2 declines result in a 15-minute trading halt unless they occur after 3:25pm, when no trading halts apply. A Level 3 decline results in trading being suspended for the remainder of the day.[1]

I worry he'll be doing something drastic and stupid to bail himself out soon.
