1. "If only Leni Riefenstahl had spoken out." - she didn't have to "speak out", she could just not have

made propaganda films for Hitler but it seems that's what she wanted to do.

Not someone who might have spoken out against military parades. She didn't make those movies to warn anyone of the dangers of Nazism. She made them to glorify the Reich.

I have been paying attention to some of those 'old architects' of the Reagan (and W) era GOP - who have regained a sense of reality - and speak out without hesitation (ala David Frum) - not going to embrace all that they say - am sure politically still pretty far apart from me - but I think theirs are important voices.

He said the parade was stupid but so were the people against it because the cost is miniscule.

It isn't about Leni Riefenstahl per se. It is about what Bartlett said, but even more my post is about the importance of speaking out.

Bartlett was a "supply side" dumbass but he has repented. I'll give him that and perhaps by deleting his tweet he realized that resistance is about more than cost.

And too I very much liken #fakepresident to Hitler. Leni probably wasn't about to speak out against Adolf although there is some disagreement as to her commitment. But that is beside the point. Had she spoken out against his military parades she would likely be dead before her time, but that would be one more resister. And we would not have Triumph of the Will, which would be ok with me.

Remember Godwin's Law? Perhaps #fakepresident's greatest achievement has been to relegate that norm to the scrap heap.

14. His tweet compared it to moscow. I would need to see what he actually tweeted

His twitter is full of anti trump talk. So there is no issue with him in speaking out.

15. Ugh. You don't need to see the tweet to grasp my point here

The tweet had nothing to do with Moscow. Nor was it in any way pro #fakepresident.

His point was to let #fakepresident have his stupid parade and that the people complaining are stupid because the cost is miniscule.

He said that people complaining are stupid, there are more important things to protest. I saw it with my own eyes. I went back to copy it and it was gone.

I don't lie and I tend to be an accurate reporter.

Trump's parade is stupid, but the opposition is also stupid. The military does parades all the time. I bet the total cost is a nontrivial percentage of the DoD budget. A few million dollars for a parade in a $700 billion budget is not worth arguing about.
