The great American tragedy...
One of the greatest mistakes made in the last century was allowing Republicans to control all branches of government. It happened during the 1920's, just before the Great Depression. Their policies were not that different from their policies today. Cut taxes and let business loose to do what it desires.
Now, in the 21st century, the people have made the same mistake. Republicans are in control of all branches of government.
It is tragic because they do not know how to govern. They have no inclination to govern. That is not something that they are interested in. They are more interested in "ungoverning". For them, government is there to be destroyed or torn down. Government is evil.
On top of it all, and what makes it so tragic, is that they have put an unstable authoritarian in the White House. What impetus do Republicans have to restrain him? If he destroys our government, what's the big deal?
The rest of us, the majority, are left at their mercy. If they want to cut social programs, who is to stop them? If they want to do away with almost a century of progress, what can be done so long as they control our government.
If the Democrats cannot win at least one House of one branch of the government, the rapid slide into anarchy and Third World status will continue. People must be made aware that Republicans are not good at governing and should never be put in charge of our government. The proof is all around them.
