Is it really that bad?

I've been on DU since 2007 and I know the people here to be some of the smartest people I've ever had the privilege of interacting with. It really does sound like the majority here think that Mueller is going to get fired, the Russians steal the election in November 2018 away from us and the Blue Wave through their bots and perhaps as far as actual vote flipping and hacking, and, with a complicit/compromised Ryan/McConnell-led GOP congress, Trump becomes de facto dictator of the USA? If that's the consensus on here, especially from people as knowledgable as those on here, what's the point of even getting out of bed in the morning?

This is how I often feel when I visit what I consider my "haunt".

My advice? Put DU on hold for a bit. I call it a mental heath break.

successfully, and Brand's resignation has made that path even narrower.

Think of it this way, if Trump manages to kill Mueller's investigation, and Republicans would have aided and abetted this perversion of justice, it wouldn't be in the interest of either of them to see the Democrats in power again, who would launch powerful investigations ending with a lot of people in jail.

It ain't over til it's over

Of course, that's because

The future ain't what it used to be

So let's all follow this advice

When you come to a fork in the road, take it

Or as Robin Williams once put it "People, ya gotta laugh; we've got Howdy Doody in the White House!" Of course, that was the last time America put an entertainer at the head of our government...

I believe we WILL overcome this and get back on track, and someday actually be the "greatest country on earth". But maybe not in my lifetime (I'm 61). It's going to take a lot of hard work and yes, unity on our side. I forget what British politician said this but it's so true: "America always does the right thing...after they've tried everything else."

when positive news from Mueller comes out, we all post about being vindicated. When negative news comes out, we prepare ourselves for the worst with bad news posts.

In the end, I live in my little corner of the world. I raise my daughter, work, and try to take care of my yard. Yesterday, I noticed a slate fell from my roof. I also want to start some seedlings so that my summer garden comes in strong.

I think it's good to pay attention to politics. But it's also good to take care of what is around you. I doubt the worst will transpire. But even if Trump became a dictator.....I still have to fix that tile on my roof and get my seedlings prepared for spring .

to vote a straight Democratic ticket in 18 and 20...most Dems feel the same way and independents as well...even some GOP I know.

I remain steadfast in my belief that even if Mueller is fired, the truth is ultimately going to come out. You simply can't hide something this big, and the more trump tries to obstruct and cover up, the worse it is ultimately going to get for him in the long run.

There's also he NY AG's case, which trump has no control over, though I'm sure no on has explained that to him yet.

That is the pessimistic view and easy to feel overwhelmed by. We are still people who believe in that "hope-y change-y thing" the Palin mocked---and where is she now? (in the dustbin of history where she always belonged)'

There WILL be a reckoning.
