The Bill Maher program yesterday was not funny; was depressing

Yes, the monologue was funny. The image of Whiny Donny hair flowing upward was revolting.

But all the talk was about the chipping at the checks and Balance; of the whole Republican party turned into a Trump with no regard to the Constitution and other institutions. And the helpless sense of there is nothing we can do. For now. A chuckling when Adam Schiff said that he was advised to tweet his own "go fuck yourself" to Trump.

And what with resurrecting Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski? Senators (Gillibrand) and columnists (Gayle something) have to remind their audience that they are still there? As Mark Shields so eloquently said yesterday on the PBS NewsHour: Clinton inherited what by then was the largest deficit after Reagan and Bush and ledt with a large surplus.

I got some few occasional good belly laughs out of last night's show. But they feel more like gallows' humor.

I've seen grimmer shows in the last year and three months.

That jackass in the White House is sucking humor and laughter out of this country.

Could we hate anyone more?

have forgotten fifth grade social studies & how government works. They are sure in November we will win back the House & then impeach Trump. I remind them that impeachment only starts in the House. The Senate is needed too, & you need a lot more than a majority to get a conviction. Too many people are pinning their hopes on Mueller & a dem controlled House of Reps. People also think that the dems will stand as a unified force against Trump & the traitorous GOP, but I don't see that happening. There will be a strong contingent that will want to reach across the aisle and work with the GOP in the name of healing the nation. Been there. Done that. And they'll do it again. But then, I've always been a pessimist.

Cheers!

on edit: My friend says the graphic needs one more shot glass: The Narcissist - an empty shot glass with an orange mess balanced on top.

We put the opportunist last so we have the opportunity to show the others in their 'before' state. If I were artistically inclined, I'd update this graphic.

I've been saying the same about so many of the political "cartoons" - it's tough to laugh when the situation is so sad...................
