1. i don't think he should do it. it gives republicans too many talking points!

not good to have a democratic congressperson revealing classified information from the house floor.

technically legal, so he can get away with it, but they'll be screaming from the rooftops about how democrats can't be trusted, are terrible for national security, are aiding and abetting terrorists, blah, blah, blah.

there's just no way the actual contents of the memo are worth it.

it's playing out fine for us as it is with donnie appearing yet again to be partisan and obstructing for his own benefit.

We're the ones defending the FBI. If the FBI has said there need to be changes in the document, we need to work with the FBI to make the changes.

Which is what Schiff has said.

especially after they themselves released their memo over the objections of the FBI etc. do you think they won't be screaming from the rooftops regardless?

Ds can't make their case unless they, you know, make their case.

5. unilaterally divulging classified information is not the way to go about this.

i hear you that it's entirely unfair that they get their memo out and we don't get our memo out.

we should certainly be objecting to that and pressing for our memo to get out.

but unilaterally leaking it or reading it from the house floor is not the way to go about it.

yes, republicans will always come up with talking points. but some of them work and some of them don't.
a democrat divulging classified information from the house floor is a talking point that would work very well for republicans.

let's keep them trying to explain why it's ok for their memo to come out but not ours.
i think that plays much better.

7. If Schiff gets the FBI and CIA to approve his reading the response to Nunez'

memo in the halls of Congress, then he should read it there no matter what Trump says or does.

Nunez memo already gave away the time of the surveillance and other sensitive information.

12. donnie has said he'd allow a redacted version if the the fbi/cia approved it

and he's a man of his word

i don't know if any still classified information is really necessary.

i suspect a redacted version is probably good enough.
if not, i still don't think we should risk anything divulging classified information.

better to just point out how horribly self-serving donnie is being.

I think I'd rather defer to Adam Schiff's judgement on this. He's there; Cooper's not.

9. If it guarantees Mueller's safety from being fired

That's really the only reason I have for doing this. Otherwise, it's just stooping to their level (yeah, I know what that sounds like), but it's part of their distraction. Schiff said he wanted to be done with this crap so we could get back to protecting the mid-terms from Russian influence. I agree with him on that.

10. I see a lot of folks disagreeing with releasing "our memo"..

I thought our memo was a response to "their memo" and thereby wouldn't be exposing anything... .Having said that, I support whatever Rep. Schiff thinks is the right thing to do because I think he's got our best interests at heart....

11. It would be a rebuttal
Sun Feb 11, 2018, 12:49 AM

But in refuting what the Nunes memo said, it would also vindicate the FBI and should lend support for the continuation of the Mueller investigation. Remember, tRump said the Nunes memo demonstrated that the investigation was a witch hunt. It was meant to cast aspersion on our intelligence so it would be easier for him to move on Mueller.

However, the Nunes memo was widely seen as a complete dud. So no rebuttal required. Still, if tRump continues down the road to firing Mueller and our memo would bolster confidence in the FBI, then that should make it more difficult for tRump to fire Mueller.

I doubt there is much in the memo that we don’t already know. Everything not classified is out and everybody who isn’t determined to remain willfully ignorant knows that Nunes is full of shit.

All it would “accomplish” would be to take what focus there is on the investigation and make everything about the stunt of reading it into the record.
