(53,801 posts)Mentioning holding a hearing for trump just brings back the recent memories of how she railroaded Al Franken out of office without a hearing.
Repug trump, an admitted sexual abuser, is somehow worthy of a hearing but her own Democratic colleague was not.
WTF?
She needs to be keeping a very low profile instead of showcasing her own stunningly, stupid hypocrisy, not to mention her tone-deaf thirst for headlines and power.

(31,261 posts)Why the special bile for Kirsten? Is it she is female who vigorously prosecute systemic abusers of women? Logically, why?

(31,261 posts)Which is it? She could have said her piece and not been followed, the fact that she was followed means that the followers saw truth in her position.

(46,150 posts)This very issue is being addressed on "Sixty Minutes" this hour (probably the last installment).
Let her explain why she didn't wait for Al Franken to get his due process BEFORE she demanded that he resign.

(17,390 posts)Who would ever think that "progressives" and Trump would be on the same page when it comes to men accused of sexual harassment?

President Trump on Saturday appeared to side with men accused of domestic abuse or sexual misconduct, following a week of turmoil surrounding allegations of spousal abuse against two male aides that brought the national #MeToo movement inside the White House.
In a tweet, Trump questioned whether due process is being given to those accused of wrongdoing and expressed sympathy for their damaged careers and sullied reputations.
Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation, Trump tweeted Saturday morning. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?
The brief message, which made no mention of the accusers, marks the presidents most pointed response to the ongoing national reckoning with sexual harassment and abuse and put him seemingly at odds with a movement that in recent months has led to the downfall of several powerful men accused of abhorrent behavior.

(115,789 posts)You're willing to give Trump due process but not one of your own senators?
I don't think I'll ever forgive what she did.

(31,893 posts)I know you're a fellow Minnesotan - our Senator was taken away and he did not deserve it.
I don't know any Minnesota Democrat who isn't totally pissed off about it.

(115,789 posts)I expect he'll be campaigning for Tina Smith, but it totally sucks that his Senate seat is up at all this year. That was such an incredibly dumb and damaging move on Gillibrand's part. I hope she doesn't plan on trying to get the Dem nomination in 2020; she'll certainly crash and burn in MN.

(14,167 posts)It's not really a good look on Gillibrand. I feel like a fool for thinking that she was starting to fill Sen. Clinton's shoes. She's really not fit to shine them (and I'm not too keen on the senior senator from NY either).

(24,759 posts)Gillibrand is great and I will campaign hard for her if she is our 2020 candidate. Yeah!
I disagree with how Franken was treated, including by her, and I think his absence hurts our cause.
I think mature individuals can hold both opinions without inner conflict.
You dont have to choose.
Like Obama and TPP.
