(33,643 posts)And yeah, I think it was likely the Kremlin helping out their boy by creating the appearance of impropriety on the US Intel Services.
The URL is f***ing bullshit, BTW. If one reads the REAL story, our spies specifically said they don't want the 'dirt on Trump' they wanted stolen cyberweapons or some such but the Russian operative insisted on giving them supposedly incriminating info on Dump.
That's if any of this ever even actually happened at all.
It seems the Russians were actively attempting to undermine the Mueller investigation via providing an avenue for Dump to question US Intel Agencies credibility/impartiality. Did they do this of their own accord to keep Pooties LapDog out of the clink? Or did Dumps people actively conspire with Russia to accomplish that goal? Given this is the same sort of tactics Trump and Nunes hatched up with their fake and discredited Memo, AND we know that Russians were swamping Twitter with #ReleaseTheMemo memes for weeks ... it's seriously worth considering the two worked together.

(8,203 posts)the bullet points (at the link), summation - very helpful - here they are -
1.US officials paid a shady Russian $100,000 last year to re-acquire stolen NSA cyberweapons. But instead of delivering the hacking tools, the Russian provided unverified and dubious dirt on President Donald Trump.
2.American spies tried to recover the cyberweapons during several meetings. But each time the Russian came back with "kompromat" on Trump until, finally, US officials cut off the deal and warned the intermediary to return to Russia.
3.The interactions appear to have been part of a counterintelligence operation aimed at sowing discord and casting doubt on the legitimacy of the Russia investigation
this whole story is something (LOL) that requires us to double think..watch out for whiplash...
