In order to fix this, a lot of people need to be offended and some "stuff" needs to be broken.
Until that reality is acknowledged, we're just pissin' against the wind.

(22,845 posts)I don't think you've thought this thing though very well. You "break" our democracy and rule of law and gun control will be the least of our problems.

How about laws and rules and norms need breaking or reconsidering? So far, the levers of traditional power are controlled by the bad guys. Massive civic participation---maybe millions in the streets, maybe a national strike---are NOT within their control UNLESS we continue to patiently play by the rules.
So, disorderly conduct? Trespassing? Failure to disperse? Defacing government property? I know most of us are not used to willfully violating any laws except speed limits, but they may be banking on our unquestioning obedience while they consolidate their power.
Disrupting corporate America's cash flow will change things. "Reasoned dialogue"? How's that worked so far?
I am not advocating any form of violence, but I am urging that we be willing to put ourselves in the way of the continuing slide toward a kakistocracy.

(22,845 posts)You wrote "First, I have no idea how you read that as a call to "break our democracy", and then you demonstrated that you understood perfectly when you followed up by writing "Second, I do agree that my choice of words was poor. "Stuff" is open to too many interpretations, as is perhaps shown by your concerned post." I don't consider peaceful resistance and civil disobedience to be "breaking" anything.
