Gun control with background checks for all handguns and long guns is just as important as making certain that people suffering from mental illness don't have access to guns.

two nephews who suffer some forms. So beleive me, I know what it entails as it affects me personally.

What I meant with my comment was that the GOPers are trying to say that mental illness was the cause of the murders i Parkland. Maybe it played a part, but just like Emma Gonzales (survivor of Parkland) so aptly said, 17 ppl would not have been murdered if the murderer had a knife.

Mental health is just a fringe element. We have always mad mentally challenged people in this country, like ever other country but we have not always had people shooting up schools with hight powered semi automatic weapon.
Have we?

I think these shootings are less about mental illness and more about uncontrollable anger and hatred. There are too many young men in this country that are filled with rage and feel that they have the right to take it out on others.
