Failing that, they swindle folks dumber than themselves. If you've got no morals or ethics, taking someone's last dime and not giving a sh** is surprisingly easy.

(32,084 posts)What bullshit. The only reason he only eats the tops is because they taste better than the bottom part, because they have that nice, caramelized outside (or the streusel, or the glaze, or the sugar and nuts...). Throwing the bottoms into the garbage just doesn't look good, especially now, when so many people can't afford groceries.

(135,425 posts)Does Mitt Romney know that Oklahoma, the sort of state in whose image he intends to remake the nation, ranks forty-fifth in median household income (Hamm's billions notwithstanding) or that a recent Pew study rated Oklahoma one of the three worst states in terms of social mobility? My guess is that he does. But he also knows the more important truth, that the candidate with the tidiest narrative wins. And his narrative is very tidy: that making money is a good and patriotic undertaking, that those who make the most of it are the best and wisest people in the world, and that Romney shall save us because he knows what's good for him and Harold Hamm, and what's good for him and Harold is good for us all.
It's just a horrible portrait of the guy, even without the Mormon stuff and the Holocaust/pus/baboon references. But it's accurate, I'm thinking...

(21,642 posts)For a brief time 15-20 years ago, "muffin top" pans were fairly popular, and you can probably still get them. They're very shallow, so people who like the tops of muffins because they enjoy the crust get more of that. It's sort of like those "all edges" brownie pans they have now for people who prefer the edge pieces.

Recently, I've been watching Seinfeld reruns on TV and it is HIL-AR-IOUS. I'm sad I never watched it all those years. I'll keep an eye out for that episode.
