a few weeks ago, but in truth, I have also seen this in workplaces.

Can't remember when I first became aware of the Peter Principle, maybe about a couple of decades ago.

Nobody ever tells them no, and anyone who DOES tell them no is just a hater who is jealous.

Look at Michael Jackson for the sad endgame to this way of life.

That's what he's used to as a businessman. That's all he knows - the CEO whose word is absolute and who can hire and fire at will without having to answer to anyone. He's the CEO, so everybody else has to answer to him. And he likes firing people who serve him. As the self-anointed king he fancies himself to be.

One more time - a President of the United States is the top PUBLIC SERVANT in the United States. The President works for US. It's not the other way around! And he is hard-wired not to get that - at all.

When they have to mingle with people not of that crowd, they're like turds in the punch bowl.

Can anyone forget the look on Rick Perry's face when Romney offered to bet $10,000?

A. You'll have to ask someone who was actually there. But he certainly got UN-elected soon enough.

Q. How did this gaffe-a-minute clown win a election?
A. His competition consisted of gaffe-a-SECOND clowns.

You're welcome.

Mostly because he's a double bubble guy-
1) Rich douchebag bubble- relates only to his own kind or "the help" who he disdains and has to refrain from unleashing "shine my shoes fuckface".
2) Mormon bubble- which combined with #1 above makes it nigh-impossible to relate the the unwashed masses.

And obedience. That's all he wants. To be king and the bishop, all st the sametime. Divine rights, that no one else holds or gets to know about, are his stock in trade. Privilege is what he demands and expects. Zealot fanatic.
Look in his eyes. If you dare. Scarey.

He wouldn't know the real world if it bit him on the ass, through his garments.

Good premise in the OP. Mitt's been accustomed to brown nosing from his underlings for so many years he thinks he can treat everybody in America in the exactly the same way. And by everybody, of course I mean "You people".

He was a bishop and probably still enjoys status as an elder. No one in is family or church peers would have questioned him.
Combined with his CEO mentality, he just does not live in a world where he should ever be questioned.

27. Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Fri Jul 27, 2012, 12:56 AM
Jul 2012

Last edited Sat Jul 28, 2012, 12:31 PM - Edit history (1)

Narcissistic Personality Disorder is characterized by a long-standing pattern of grandiosity...People with this disorder often believe they are of primary importance in everybody's life or to anyone they meet. While this pattern of behavior may be appropriate for a king in 16th Century England, it is generally considered inappropriate for most ordinary people today.
  • Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
  • Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
  • Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
  • Requires excessive admiration
  • Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
  • Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
  • Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
  • Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
  • Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Individuals with Paranoid Personality Disorder are generally difficult to get along with and often have problems with close relationships. Their excessive suspiciousness and hostility may be expressed...by quiet, apparently hostile aloofness. Because they are hypervigilant for potential threats, they may act in a guarded, secretive, or devious manner and appear to be "cold" and lacking in tender feelings. Although they may appear to be objective, rational, and unemotional, they more often display a labile range of affect, with hostile, stubborn, and sarcastic expressions predominating...
  • Suspects, without sufficient basis, that others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving him or her
  • Is preoccupied with unjustified doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of friends or associates
  • Is reluctant to confide in others because of unwarranted fear that the information will be used maliciously against him or her
  • Reads hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events
  • Persistently bears grudges, i.e., is unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights
  • Perceives attacks on his or her character or reputation that are not apparent to others and is quick to react angrily or to counterattack

He was a "boss" for the last 25 years of his working life, and since retiring lives in such a bubble and associates only with like minded types that he only very rarely had to actually debate somebody who used critical thinking. Would believe he's hitting you with a solid trump card, the all time zinger, when it's actually nothing more than the the most time-worn trite talking point...but he doesn't know this.

No doubt yet that Mitt will yet out-do himself with his tone deaf gaffes, despite a legion of handlers/advisors. Obama looks absolutely rational and in-tune by comparison. I don't see how any amount of money can make Mitt more formidable as a candidate.
