One sentence that totally describes Republicans...forever. I saw this in Wednesday's newspaper. It is a description of what the Republicans did in the state legislature in Florida on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Please pass this on, it is exactly who Republicans are:
Bradenton Herald, Page 14, Wednesday Feb 21, 2018,
by Elizabeth Koh and Steve Bousquet, Harold/TimesTallhassee Bureau:

"While Republicans blocked any discussion of assault weapons Tuesday, they did debate at length another bill that declares pornography to be a public health risk."

Pass this on to everyone. It is who Republicans are, have been, and will always be. One sentence that tells everyone what the Republicans care about. It is simple, clear and precise. All will understand what this means.

(38,436 posts)For a long time the GOPocrisy has stood strongly against any kind gun control. Any kind. If 15 years ago, the GOP stood against automatic weapons of any kind, then people would have been living that are now dead.
When the GOP refused to renew the assault ban, it set in motion Las Vegas. and this Florid High School shooting. Let's imagine that in 2004 instead of allowing the ban to die, the GOP proposed and passed a law that totally outlawed all automatic guns of any kind. Let's imagine that that law would go into affect in 2008. No automatic guns ever sold. In addition, no bullets for those guns ever sold. Further, a two year period, the law would require those who have any automatic guns and bullets for them to get rid of them. The federal government could issue a tax deduction for those who could legally prove that those guns were disposed of.
Many guns would have been disposed of, and we would be safer now knowing they were totally outlawed in this country.

(159 posts)Maybe the new legislature, after the election, will pass an assault weapons ban.

(38,436 posts)But what about now, Feb 2018 to January 2019?..What happens from now till then?..
In the Original Post, it described that the Florida legislature would not even allow a debate on the issue of outlawing these weapons.. That legislature would probably not approve it since it has a strong Republican majority,..butnot allowing debate is exactly who they are. That defines them
